With a mere seven weeks until Election Day, it’s hard to believe how fast the last six months have flown by.
Since March, I not only filed for my race to become Oregon House District 29’s next State Representative, I also retired from my 42-year teaching career and took one final trip with a student to the National Speech and Debate tournament. I began recruiting volunteers and knocking thousands of doors to introduce myself to voters in the community. I secured endorsements from nearly 30 organizations, and gained the grassroots support of hundreds of generous donors in order to launch the most viable campaign possible. Somewhere in there, I even managed to make it to my oldest son’s wedding!
The last six months have been busy for sure, but they have also been some of the most rewarding months of my life. I have been so grateful for the help I’ve received from dozens of volunteers who believe in the same priorities as I do: making sure our kids have reasonable class sizes and affordable college tuition; supporting small business owners to succeed and helping working families in our community get ahead; and protecting the farmlands and natural resources that make Oregon (especially Washington County!) such an amazing place to live.
Over the next seven weeks, I can’t wait to talk to more voters, hear about the community’s priorities, and work with my amazing team of volunteers to win this election. I’ll also be in touch with regular blog posts here, and I encourage folks to stay updated by subscribing to my email list and liking my Facebook page.
